Hollie Cope, Director of LOOM, Dalton
Welcome to LOOM Integrative Wellness, where we weave together a wellness plan that uniquely supports you and your specific medical directives.
As you will see from my gallery of photos, my size and health status has fluctuated over the years. I've battled obesity and many other physical challenges. Yet, I've thrived against some serious odds. Had integrative health practitioners not been present in my life during my early twenties, and again, during a more recent crisis, I certainly would not be here today. I owe my life and my career to integrative doctors— the first of whom diagnosed my elusive endocrine disease after four long years of mystery and suffering. This comprehensive approach led me to the correct medical specialist, and in advance, I knew what tests they needed to run in order to finally give me confirmation and what protocols I needed to pursue in order to recover. From that experience, I knew I wanted to serve people in that same way. I wanted to teach people how to see themselves as thriving beings— pulling them away from the defeated emotion that they would have to exist as a collection of hopeless symptoms. Sometimes you just need a new approach. Sometimes you need someone to help you weave all of the broken threads back together. Sometimes you need someone to help you get out the way of your own weaving. I know, because my own lifelines had become frayed. Remarkably, I was led back to the "Loom." There is hope. Allow me to show you the potential of your own Divine Design and how LOOM Integrative Wellness can change your life.
Licensed in Georgia since 2006 when the Board of Massage Therapy became official, I have been in professional practice since 2003. I specialize in hands on manual therapies. I have over 900 clock hours in advanced clinical education as a Neuromuscular Therapist, and can work in just about any modality. I graduated from ASHA in Atlanta, Georgia in 2003, and started my practice at Buckhead Wellness Group. I've taught Massage Therapy protocols to both students at ASHA in Atlanta and Neuromuscular Therapy to advanced instructors at SOCHI in Los Angeles..
I moved back to Dalton in 2007, started a private practice of my own in 2009, and it's been an amazing ride ever since. Massage/bodywork is my primary focus.
In 2016, I traveled to Rishikesh India to become certified Vedic Meditation Teacher. This 300 hour program has allowed me to develop programs for groups and individuals alike who have utilized meditation practice to heal from emotional and physical stress and to optimize sports performance.
Traditionally, Yoga is an exercise that prepares the body for meditation, and I have enjoyed learning it from this perspective through my certification. I have also taught yoga classes and individual sessions for special populations.
During my 23-year career, I have developed a keen sense of how the body reflects trauma, grief and "holds onto" mental and emotional patterns. There is a scientific basis for this scope of work called "psychosomatics." While my manual therapies are very helpful to reset physiology and physical effects, and specialized doctors and counselors are needed to address the psychological basis of trauma patterns, oftentimes, clients need to address the spiritual component as well. Integrative health is a synergistic approach that combines mind, body and spirit. For many years, my motto has been, "Create Space For Healing," since we often get in our own way by harboring toxic thoughts and habits.
To further my capacity as a psychosomatic practitioner, I am currently pursuing a 400-hour program at Erlanger Hospital in Clinical Pastoral Care. This is an inter-faith curriculum that will prepare me to meet spiritual needs as a chaplain; learning the clinical method of introducing spiritual support in times of crisis or trauma. In the latter part of the program, I will be serving as an on-call chaplain for the hospital- which is a Level One Trauma Center. I won't say it's not a daunting thought, but I feel that God has led me to this path. Most importantly, I hope to further develop my ecumenical Christian mission while discovering more about my own relationship with Jesus Christ. To God be all glory for every opportunity.
The Dalton community has always been supportive of my mission. I've been blessed to return home to become a community advocate, an educator of integrative health, and finally a complementary health consultant. I've offered interactive modules for Dalton Public Schools and provided programs to employees at Shaw Industries. I've also written educational literature for Navicent/Atrium Health Pediatrics in Macon, Georgia. I aim to support public and private organizations in vetting programs, practitioners and infrastructures that promote integrative wellness initiatives.
